I'm an Army Veteran who's seen active service in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Following service in the military I joined the NHS for 6 years working in Clinical Education as a Simulation Technician helping train Doctors and Nurses.
Now, approaching middle age, I'm venturing into another career in the railway industry, and learning photography and videography as an escape for PTSD and Anxiety.
I hope you'll come along for the journey.

I'm self-taught for photography and videography. I learnt via a mix of trial and error, YouTube and books from my local library.
I tend to shoot landscape pictures and videos as it's what I enjoy. however, recently, I've really started to enjoy street photography and macro photography.
All my work is of things I enjoy photographing. I don't do this as a job, and everything I shoot is because I think it's interesting or tells a story in the picture.
All the pictures on this site, and my main photography site are my own which I have taken whilst out and about. The full albums are available on my full website.

I shoot on a variety of devices depending on what I'm doing.
My primary way of shooting is on my iPhone (Usually always the current flagship model) It's what I started taking picture on and continue to do so.
Alongside my phone I also use a Sony Alpha 7ii body with a range of lens. I'm really enjoying this camera and learning to have more control over how the image is composed.
More recently, April 2024, I have upgraded to a Sony Alpha 7iii camera body.
For video I mainly use a combination of; GoPro (Hero 9), Max (360), DJI Pocket 2, DJI Action 2, Insta360 Go2.
Finally, I also use a DJI Mavic Mini 2 drone which I use to capture a mixture of Photo and Video content on. As of April 2024, I have upgraded to a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone.
As much as possible, I always shoot RAW for my photo's. It's something that I prefer as it gives me more ability to enhance the picture in Lightroom.
For me, photography is an escape. I go out for a walk each and everyday, even when it's raining to help clear my mind and process the events of the day.
Due to the nature of my PTSD I enjoy being outside and being in nature, hence the large amount of landscape pictures.
I started snapping pictures whilst out on my daily walks using my phone of scenes or things I found interesting. I started posting them to my personal Facebook account and my friends really liked them.
I was encouraged by my therapist to take more and make a point of sharing them, this with the encouragement of my friends I set up several other social media channels such as Instagram to show the pictures I was taking to a wider audience.
Soon, I wanted to find a way to create larger albums of pictures and discovered that I had the ability to host them on the Adobe platform.
Building on my photography website I gained a passion for not just taking a picture, but editing the picture afterwards using the Adobe Suite of applications.
It has become both a hobby and a passion of mine to take better pictures and subtly edit them to enhance the detail and story within the picture.
The rest as they say is history!
On Twitter I have, via my personal account joined in with a hashtag 'club' called #TreeClub which has a single philosophy of taking a picture of a tree and posting it to your Twitter account with the hashtag.
It's really that simple and a really wide variety of people take part in it with a huge variety of different scenes and trees each day.
It's nice to search for the hashtag and enjoy some pure simple enjoyable fun of looking at pictures people have taken of trees.
I highly recommend checking it out the next time you're on Twitter!
Whilst it's a community with no leader, it's actively monitored by a serving member of the police who goes by the name of TreeCop on twitter.
Volunteer Work
I volunteered with Behind the Heroes (CiC), where I gave my time and experience in maintaining their website and creating social media posts for their channels. I also attend veteran respite camps and shoot video, drone footage and capture the events with the permission of the attendees.
To support veterans in need I have created, edited and produced a series of short videos offering self-help for veterans following a brief from Behind the Heroes. These are available to view on their website and YouTube channel.
Following Behind the Heroes, I currently volunteer with Tommy's Lounge (CiC) where I maintain their website which I built for them under their direction and brief.
